Xiaomi appears to be preparing for the upcoming release of its next-generation smartphone, tentatively titled the Xiaomi 16. Though the company has not issued any official confirmation, a leak from a reliable tipster known as Smart Pikachu has revealed a number of key specifications.
The most notable detail is the expected debut of Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset in the Xiaomi 16. If accurate, the device could be the first on the market to integrate this processor. Performance improvements and energy efficiency gains are anticipated as part of the chipset upgrade.
Battery specifications have also surfaced in the leak, suggesting the Xiaomi 16 may house a 6,800mAh battery unit. The battery is said to support 100W wired fast charging. This marks a significant step up from last year’s Xiaomi 15, which featured a 5,400mAh battery.
Despite the large battery capacity, the smartphone is expected to maintain a slim and lightweight profile. The front of the device could feature a 6.3-inch flat display with minimal bezels, potentially contributing to a modern design approach. Software-wise, the Xiaomi 16 is projected to run on Android 16 layered with Xiaomi’s latest user interface.
In the imaging department, the Xiaomi 16 may be equipped with a triple-lens setup headlined by a 50MP main sensor. Reports indicate the inclusion of a telephoto lens to enable long-range zoom photography without loss in clarity.
Alongside the standard model, Xiaomi is likely to introduce a Pro variant later this year. A higher-end Ultra model is reportedly under development and could launch in early 2026.
If the leaked specifications are verified upon launch, the Xiaomi 16 may appeal to users prioritizing high performance, extended battery life, and robust camera features.
